One of our parishioners lives right next to church, and has a garden full of flowers. About a week or so ago, she asked Angus to go over to her place with Rick’s mum and together, they picked out a bunch of flowers to bring home. There’s something raw about fresh flowers from someone’s garden that is simply irresistible, don’t you think? Plus, the lavender smelt absolutely amazing, and the blue forget-me-nots seemed poetically appropriate seeing as this was Cameron’s month.
Anyway, I’ve been taking it easy these last few days as this week I finally completed a list of projects that has been on my radar since back in June. Two nights ago, I even worked through and lodged our tax returns in one sitting, and so as a reward, I’ve been allowing myself to actually relax (something I’m terrible at) and – the ultimate luxury in my opinion – to read a book (Amy Tan, in case you’re curious). Next week, however, I am eager to get back into writing and creating more content for the blog.
In the meantime, I just wanted to say thanks again for all your thoughts and prayers for us this month. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend filled with love and warmth.
More flora here.

I’ve never even seen fresh lavender before, that’s how much of a black thumb I am. Have a beautiful weekend Ronnie
There is nothing like fresh flowers, before kids I changed career to become a florist … and you are right, when freshly picked from the garden they seem even more poignant. When my dear grandmother passed away suddenly 2 years ago, I made her wreath from all the beautiful flowers she lovingly grew in her garden, it felt like fate when I found forget-me-nots I found hidden under a tree – the perfect message and her favourite colour … now whenever I see forget-me-nots I think of her, just as you thought of your boy …

oh, how I love lavender. These are gorgeous!
Good for you for letting yourself relax. You deserve it. Wishing you a wonderful, restful weekend. Also, I know we’ve been going back and forth with thank you’s, but I have to tell you how much I appreciated your thoughtful response to my Equals Record post. You articulated exactly how I felt so eloquently – thank you!
I love reading your Equals Record posts, and can empathise with so much of what you write…

I just love flowers from the garden… natural arrangements are the best :) I am totally rubbish at relaxing too… I just can’t sit still for a minute, there is always so many projects to do! Glad you got a chance to slow down a bit :)
Gorgeous photos… as usual!
A sweet post from you Ronnie. I am glad you have decided to take a break & rest a bit — you seem to always be doing something! Which is GREAT — but us creative people need breaks every once in a while. :) I know what you mean though… I have such a hard time STOPPING… to rest, to refresh… or just to simply enjoy myself. I am glad you are doing that this week. :)
I’m still sending you lots of hugs & love your way! <3 …and by the way, that combination of flowers is my favorite! There's a vendor here in Sacramento that sells lavender every week at the farmer's market! Oh my gosh, you'd love it. :)
Totally agree Latrina. I’m actually onto my second book and almost finished that one too. Very proud of myself.

p.s. Send me some in the mail! :)
Amy Tan, I love her books. Enjoy giving yourself some time, you are one super busy lady so I’m absolutely positive you need and deserve it!

Did you end up re-reading The Kitchen God’s Wife?
Ronnie xo
I have a confession. I am a SLOW reader so when I say I might be inspired to re-read it, it means at some point, probably many months down the track. haha. I also need to track a copy down again. I don’t really remember the storyline, just that it was enchanting. Amy Tan’s books are often about families through generations though aren’t they? x
love the minimal composition of these flower pictures, with the focus on its natural beauty. enjoy the pause :)
These pictures are gorgeous, and yes I do love the idea of fresh flowers – if not for my allergies! I don’t even dare put my face near a bunch of real flowers, haha. Congrats on getting all that stuff done – the tax return especially.
Agreed, absolutely love it when I get those tax returns done.

Such beautiful flowers. I just cut some lavender from our garden to put in a little vase inside. Hopefully you are able to relax! Hugs xoxo
So pretty, and I’m sure they smell SO good!
I love to take flowers like these and put them glass jars all throughout my house.
