This is what I wore after a week of wearing the same clothes when I was sick. Even though I mostly live in jeans, once in a while, it’s nice to don a dress and pretend I’m a lady.
I thought I’d start sharing my personal projects here on the blog, partly to help keep myself accountable but also to let you guys in on what I get up to in my ‘spare’ time, usually after the boys are in bed at nights.
About a year and a half ago, I started keeping a monthly projects list on Simplenote (which I sync to Notational Velocity on my desktop). This has proven to be incredibly useful in more ways than one. On the one hand, it helps me to stay focused on what I want/have to accomplish each month. At the same time, it allows me to not stress about all the other projects I need/want to be working on. The simple list format means that I can easily ‘bump’ a project to a later month. If truth be told, this happens a lot. But that’s what I love about this projects list of mine: it’s completely flexible. You can have as many or as little or even NO projects on the list for a particular month.
So here are my projects for this month and next month:
MAY
- Set up Angus’ 4th year Project Life album – completed
- Design new website for church – completed
- Finish Pete’s 2nd year scrapbook
- Sort/organise photos (Mar-Apr)
JUNE
- Set up Pete’s 3rd year Project Life album
- Finish Jamie’s 1st year ’365 days’ book
- Finish Jamie’s baby book
- Set up Jamie’s 2nd year Project Life album
- Photograph/catalogue Angus’ preschool artwork (not looking forward to this one, if I have to be honest)
With only five days left in May, I reckon that I should be able to finish Pete’s 2nd year scrapbook, as all the photos have already been printed and cut up. I just need to stick them in and caption them. The last project, however, will most likely be carried forward to June, and I reckon at least a couple of those June projects will be bumped to July. It’s all about the shuffling.
So over to you guys – what project or projects have you been working on? Do you have a particular way you keep track of your projects?
Anyway, here’s wishing you all a wonderful weekend! Whatever your plans are, make sure you eat cake and cuddle the ones you love.

ok, it is now me who is feeling inspired! I usually collapse on the couch at the end of each day but I really like the idea of having some projects on the go. Totally in awe of your project life books – don’t know how you do it all with three boys!
I give up a bit of sleep here and there (okay, sometimes a lot) but in all seriousness, it’s the project list that keeps me going! (And the desperate desire to have CAUGHT UP on all my scrapbooking so that I don’t forever feel like I’m behind…)

I am a jeans and t-shirt kinda gal too and I have been thinking that I should get back to wearing skirts and dresses – took a serious break from that after the twins were born. It’s nice to feel like a lady sometimes, isn’t it??!!
As for projects… gosh… I have so many on the go and behind in pretty much all of them but that’s ok. I have Project Life to catch-up on and several little on-line classes that need my attention. This weekend I’ll tidy my studio so I can get in there and start having creative fun again.
Hope you have a great weekend too!!
A.
P.S. I have about 9 yrs of art to photograph – so daunting but it will so worthwhile once it’s done : )
Agree that tidying studio as a first step will probably help with creativity! I’m forever going into Rick’s office and tidying/decluttering for him because he’s told me how much he thinks it helps with his productivity.

p.s. I’m SO encouraged by both our execising efforts. Let’s touch base again on Tuesday!
I’m studying at the moment, so my spare time is spent doing assignments and preparing for exams! Boring!
Can’t wait for final exams to be over so I have more free time.
I bought a sewing machine and looking forwrd to making some stuff.
I love your dress.. I swear have one with the exact same print!
Wow, what are you studying? I’m sure it will definitely feel heaps nice once it’s all over. I seriously admire people who can sew – make sure you show us some of your soon-to-be creations. :)

p.s. I bought the dress some five years ago for a wedding and have loved it since.
Thanks for your lovely comments! Hope you recovered well and be able to enjoy a sunny and relaxing weekend! Have fun!
Thank you, Barbara. Always look forward to your photos.

ps can I just say that I love that colour combo – looks beautiful on you!
Thanks spark! *blush*

So glad you found my site, because I love yours!
I love the idea of a monthly projects list, I have this tendency to set lofty goals and only get a few of them done.
Gorgeous outfit, I love that dress! I’ve been living in dresses lately because it’s been nice and sunny and hot here.
Hi Anni,
Thanks so much for swinging by and taking the time to leave such lovely words. I’m exactly the same with goals – always set out to do more than what is realistic/feasible, so this monthly list keeps me in check.

p.s. Dresses are the best for summer, for sure.
hi Ronnie
thank you for stopping by and telling me about your precious boy ~Cameron~ , So sorry for your loss .
Wow you have three other little boys in 3 years you must be super busy and still find time to scrapbook.
Love to have you join WW.
PS A great blog is my bloggy friend Lisa – Life as we know it – she is a real scrap-booking genius.
Hi Trish,
Thanks for visiting here. I was very touched to read Charlotte’s story. Losing a child is something that stays with us forever.
I am SO looking forward to WW – I’m going to prep my post tonight! :)
Ronnie xo
p.s. I shall look into Lisa’s blog…
Love that dress on you, Ronnie! And isn’t it rejuvenating in itself to work on creative projects? Even if the process tires us awfully, its totally worth it. Our heart swells with happiness and pride to see our ideas and concepts taking form! I just finished project ‘blog redesign’… its left me feeling both worn-out and delighted. Definitely more delighted than worn-out :) Loved reading about your projects!
Hope you’ve mended completely. Happy weekend!
It’s totally worth it. I just love documenting our lives – for both our sake and the children’s sake. It’s something I’m happy to give up sleep for! Can’t wait to see your new blog design, Niru. Was just thinking today I needed to swing by your lovely corner.

I love the mustard/indigo combo. Also I must say it’s so impressive that you make the time to carefully (And gorgeously) document your family’s life. Instead of letting the years fly by, drowned in the daily to-do’s you are at the same time recording every moment for everyone. It’s truly special…
Thanks Kristin. I love doing it, and I love being able to document our lives for the boys. Angus already loves looking through his scrapbooks and photo albums.

I love your dress, love stopping by your blog for inspiration.
Where do you buy your scrapbooks to put the photos in – you have inspired me to
start…or I fear of having no photos anywhere….:)
Hi Emma,
Thanks for stopping by!
I’m assuming you’re referring to my Project Life albums?
I’m using an American Craft 12 inch x 12 inch 3-ring kraft binder from http://scrapbook.com and the Design A page protectors are from http://crafthouse.co.nz (if you want a direct link to the product, go to the bottom of one of my Project Life posts). I’m planning to write a post soon about how to get started with Project Life, hopefully that might help too.

Your blog is so gorgeous, Ronnie! I’m so pleased you led me here and will look forward to seeing your grateful self next week. x
Hi Maxabella,
So very stoked you stopped by – thanks for visiting and for taking the time to write such sweet words. You’re awesome.

I like your dress!
Wow, you’ve got heaps of projects. I don’t really have that many – I find it hard to fit them in between the studying and uni work, so I leave them to the holidays… or until I forget about them.
It’s my go-to dress for feeling a bit more feminine. :)
My projects help to keep me sane!

Loving the dress!
Would love to see the finished products of the scrapbooking- I was not completely happy with my eldest 1st year book and now need to get started with my youngest book and need inspiration!!! (btw- simplenote vs evernote. thoughts?)
Hi Vicki,
Thanks for your comment. I’m actually planning to do some posts in the next few weeks on some of these other scrapbooks that aren’t to do with Project Life, so check back here later.
I started using Evernote when I got my first iPhone 3G and loved it to bits. Even more stoked when they created ‘stacks.’ Nowadays, I use Evernote for all the ‘long-term’ notes that I want to store, and I use Simplenote for lists and notes that I access frequently and need to update easily on the run (Evernote still takes too long to load on the iPhone in my opinion). Hope that helps – might write about this in more detail later too.

I have no structured goals for my projects, so they just keep overwhelming me. I think yours is a great approach, and I’ll definitely have to try it! On my list are a couple of personal scrapbooks for the kiddos, and I like to squeeze in a bit of sewing when I have time – right now I’d like to sew up a few summer skirts for Isabel.
That dress is gorgeous, and you look great in it! It’s so nice to wear something a little dressier than usual on occasion!
Thanks Fi. I’d love to see your skirts!!
