We are in the car, on our way home one day.
Angus: “When I’m a grown up, I’ll choose a car from the car shop. If I need a motorbike, I’ll get a motorbike.”
Me: “You’re not going to need one.”
Angus: “If I need one, I’ll get one.”
Me: “You won’t need one. Period.”
* * *
Again, in the car:
Angus: “Land Rover Discovery is a very long word.”
* * *
At the dinner table one evening:
Angus: “I wont be a grown up for a long time because I’m still three years old for a long time. How old are you mummy?”
Me: “Thirty-two, darling.”
Angus: “Thirty two is a lot!”
* * *
During bedtime with the boys:
Angus: “Daddy, you better kneel down so that you don’t squash me.”
Moments later….
“Daddy, in the morning, the sky turns blue when the earth turns towards the sun, and the clouds turn white, and daddy, when the clouds get full of water, we get rain in the morning.”
* * *
In the morning, while Pete is having his nappy changed:
Rick: “Pete has a pink bottom.”
Angus: “Oh no, that will hurt. When people have a pink bottom, that means it hurts.”
* * *
After a tearful dinnertime one evening:
Me: “Do you know why you were crying?”
Angus: “No. Sometimes you just don’t know why. It just happens.”
* * *
In the car, on our way to the beach:
“I see things and I think about them, oh and I also talk about the things I think about, and I do that all the time.”
* * *
And finally, this afternoon during quiet time:
Angus: “Daddy, why are you just wearing a tummy?”

That is just too cute and sweet. Quite a little man you have there!
Oh boy! Cute stuff, Ronnie!
That’s awesome – I love the “I also talk about the things I think about, and I do that all the time.” It’s perfect that you are recording all of these things he’s saying
I know, that’s one of my favourites too!

Oh my goodness… how absolutely adorable!!! Got to love conversations with three year olds … hilarious!
love that he accepts just crying sometimes.
and what’s with the tummy!? doesn’t sound flattering. lol
I was pretty impressed that he said that as well.
Haha, and the tummy quote – Rick wasn’t wearing a top….. LOL!

Quite a little philosopher you have there! Love that he works out that he sees things and thinks about them and sometimes talks about those things too! What a great little chap :)
Solo cute. Love the crying bit too. My little two year old and I are just starting to have conversations and it is the best!
I’m so glad Cecilia – it’s just amazing when they start to talk and say things that you don’t expect them to say!

Oh dear, think I am dying from the cuteness over here. Can’t wait to have these kind of conversations with Lachie. x Laura
You will love it Laura! Such precious times.

so great to document their words. imagine how wonderful it will be to look back at them years from now. so sweet.
too cute!
These are splendid. I love that you are writing them down. I bet they’d be fun to share with Angus years from now.
I know, I can’t wait to go through his scrapbook with him when he’s older.

Thank you for sharing these gems. There’s no end to the thoughtful & hilarious things they say. When Max was about 23 months & I asked him how old I was (I’m also 32), he simply replied “old”. Still trying to figure out where he learned that one!
So cute. Reminds me of the time when Angus said that his toy penguin has a small bum and small tummy but mummy has a big bum and a big tummy. Thanks son.

Ah! This is too sweet. Love how the clouds fill up with water to make it rain during the day :)
Yes, daddy likes to get into the nuts and bolts of scientific explanations with him…

Love that you record these precious moments and share them with us. Poetry!
So cute. How old is he? My 4-year-old has a constant stream of chatter/questions all freakin’ day. My favorite today was “Boots and boot – those rhyme!” (we were watching Dora :))
Hi Steph,
Angus is three and a half, and yes, sometimes it seems like there’s no stopping him. And to think we were worried at one stage that he wouldn’t speak!

Oh thanks Amy. I love the last one too. Both Rick and I burst out laughing. I’m so glad he said to daddy, and not me!

Haha, seriously adorable!
How fun and sweet is he!
Also, I don’t know if this is a recent change or not, but I really enjoy your new blog layout. Everything is well-labeled, easy to find, and uncluttered. Beautiful.
Thanks Charlotte. I’ve been fiddling with the sidebar recently – glad you like it. That’s very encouraging!

What a smart kid. I heart these posts.
You know, he really is quite a thinker. Sometimes he completely stops me in my tracks with the things he says.
